What is Twitter?

If you haven’t heard about Twitter you must have been living, well, in a third world prison!

Everyone and their dog now appears to be using Twitter!  It’s currently the 15th most visited site on the internet according to Alexa Top 500 Global Sites list and growing rapidly.

Twitter is a micro-blogging platform that allows you to tweet your message to your followers and the world.  If you are a Facebook user it might be easier to understand Twitter if you liken the service to Facebook status updates.  A tweet is simply a message of up to 140 characters, just a sentence or two to convey your message.

Twitter allows anyone to broadcast to the world, and more specifically their followers, updates on their business, website or life.  Take a look at the following video for a basic, plain english description:

Once you have an understanding of how easy Twitter is to use you can begin to see the power of the microblogging platform.

One of the keys to harnessing Twitters power is interaction.  Follow users who follow you (if you find their tweets interesting), answer peoples questions and re-tweet interesting messages.  Growing your follower-base is essentially growing your customer base and to make Twitter an effective business tool you need to build the trust of your followers.

did you see the Twitter homepage is now a search engine. Maybe they will compete with GOOG one day!

I love twitter because its a blog for those who don’t have time to blog! You can skip the waffle and go straight to the good stuff!

Like all good ideas, Twitter started out as a simple “status update” but has become soaked in spam ads telling me how to get 1,000,000 followers in 1 hour (or something similar). As a user you should “keep it simple” follow the friends you know and any celebs you may be interested in. As an online spammer, the opposite applies, follow everybody and anybody and tweet them your sales pitch.

As an online business owner, don’t follow anyone just send out useful tweets to your followers/customers.

I just started using Twitter for promoting my blogs and I must say I have seen an increase in traffic. Thank you for sharing this

Twitter is looking better and better every day. Looks like it will be a good median for online money making. I learned how to be an affiliate with Tycoon Cashflow. Good results so far. Can’t wait to see how much I can make.

Make Money With Tycoon CashFlow

There is a lot of information in the affiliate entrepreneur on twitter, going into a nice overview on it.

Twitter is another useful tool for an affiliate marketer, just one of many for me! A useful tip i have found prob a lot of people are already aware of is to tweet whatever you are trying to sell, or promote. It shows up in twitters search engine for example you tweet dog training products. Now someone can search for tweets related to dog training products. If they do they can stumble across your tweets, maybe add you, or even become a customer if that’s what your selling.

Great blog i agree twitter is a useful tool!
