New Guest Blogging Guidelines

At Work From Home Blog we welcome guest writers as they provide a great diversity to the content of the site.  Not only is guest blogging a great way to get exposure for your blog or event but it is also a way to get some great Google love and for us, our readers benefit from your great content.

As the site gains more exposure and more visitors, the number of guest writer proposals has increased and whilst we will always welcome quality writers to our site, there is a significant overhead in managing guest submissions which has recently resulted in a fair number of requests being sidelined.

To this end, we now require that anyone who is interested in writing a guest post to make a donation of at least £5 (GBP) to Ty Hafan, a wonderful, local hospice who offer comfort, care and support for life-limited children and young people and are dedicated to improving the quality of life of their whole family.

We would like to clarify that your donation is no guarantee that your article will be accepted for publication, however it does ensure that your article will be read and edited, where possible, for publication.

We would also encourage writers to contact us, prior to donation, with a small paragraph detailing your proposed article to ensure that the subject matter is acceptable.  However we would encourage you to make a small donation anyway!

Please read the following guidelines to ensure that your article is suitable for the site:

  • Content should be relevant and interesting to readers of this site.
  • Article should be unique, well-written, concise and of a good standard.
  • Articles should only contain, at the most, two web page links.  Both of these links must link to the same site.  The article may also contain a link to the email address of the author within the author bio at the top of the article.
  • Once published on WorkFromHomeBlog.net, the article cannot be republished elsewhere.

If you wish to submit an article then please use the contact form with the details of your donation to Ty Hafan and I’ll get back to you shortly with information on how to proceed.

Blogging for Income

Although the Internet has been used for people to share their experiences and lives with others ever since the first connections were made back in the 1970s, in recent years, the proliferation of easy to use web tools and sites like Blogger and WordPress has opened the floodgates and now almost anyone can set up an online diary or blog in which they can share their thoughts with the world.

Blogs fall into two categories: those that people read and are interested in; and those that they don’t. Some blogs attract thousands of readers every day, and are amongst the most popular sites on the Internet. These online journals are typically the work of experts, who manage to engage well with their audience, and share information and ideas that other people value.

A popular blog that attracts a large number of readers can earn its writer a very good income, and some of the so called A-list bloggers earn a six figure salary simply from their online journal.

If you are an expert in a particular subject that other people are interested in, and can write in a manner that makes your knowledge accessible and entertaining, then it is possible that you could write a blog that other people will enjoy and subscribe to.

Once you have begun writing a blog and started to attract a large number of subscribers by promoting your writing through services like Digg and Furl, you need to find a way to earn money from it.

There are a number of ways that you can earn money from a blog. One of the most popular is to place advertising on it. Google Adsense is one of the easiest advertising programmes to implement. All you have to do is sign up for an account, and then copy a small snippet of code into every page. Every time a reader clicks on one of your adverts, Google will pay you a small amount.

Another way of earning money from your blog is to offer a paid review service in which people who sell products related to the content of your blog pay you a fee to review their product for them.

If your blog becomes particularly popular with a certain group of people, and you gain a reputation as an expert within the community, it is possible to expand into public speaking at conferences and earn money from other sources.

If you are willing to work hard at writing and promoting your blog as you would any other website, then it can be a great way of earning money from the Internet as long as you can find an audience for the subject that you want to write about.
